I'm often asked by friends who are off to London "What is the best cafe in the city?" well that is such an easy answer. The
River Cafe right opposite Putney Bridge tube station gets my vote every time. I have been going there on and off for the last 20 years and have still not found better. The food is fantastic, they do good coffee as well as the instant stuff. Crusty bread or sliced out of a packet. Fresh or tinned tomatoes etc etc it's these small things that make a good cafe great. The same Italian family have run it for years and they are the nicest people.
